Chiron is introducing its vertical twin-spindle five-axis machining center, the DZ08 FX Precision+. The machine includes contact-free linear direct drives in the X, Y and Z axes. These drives bring the spindles to optimum feed rates more quickly and permit increased traverse rates. Okuma America has released the five-axis Genos M460V-5AX vertical machining center, combining full five-axis simultaneous control with rigid, cast iron, double-column construction and a high-speed spindle. Heller Machine Tools has released the HF 5500 five-axis horizontal machining center equipped with pallet changer, offering a work envelope of 900 × 950 × 900 mm and a maximum pallet load of 750 kg. The machining center enables swivel movements of the rotary table from 30 through 120 degrees, and it can move through 225 degrees with restrictions. Hermle’s C 650 five-axis machining center is an extension of the Performance Line series, now providing three machine models for five-axis machining, including the C 250 and C 400. The C 650 uses a modification of the company’s gantry-type design with a mineral-cast machine bed. The swiveling rotary table can accommodate workpieces weighing 1,500 kg, and having diameters of 900 × 600 mm. Read more.
