LK Metrology has built a new CMM measurement services department in its North American Tech Center for performing contract dimensional inspection.
Brian Samson, managing director of LK Metrology’s North American Operations. “Our new Measurement Services Department is now providing CMM dimensional inspection for all types of precision engineered components, manufactured parts and assemblies in a new state-of-the-art, environmentally-controlled lab,” says Brian Samson, managing director of LK’s North American operations. “The facility is ISO17025-certified for calibration services, which allows LK Metrology to certify its CMMs used for contract services.”
The department provides overall measurement volumes ranging to 2.5 × 2 m (98" × 78") using an LK Metrology Scantek5 CMM, an LK Altera M CMM, an LK Altera C CMM and a soon-to-be-installed larger LK Altera M. These CMMs are used along with a range of probes and sensors, including Renishaw SP25M scanning probes, a Revo2 five-axis multi-sensor system, an SP80 high-accuracy scanning head, and Nikon Metrology L100 and LC 15Dx laser scanners.
The department offers CMM dimensional inspection for complex geometries, freeform surfaces, thin-walled parts, 2D/3D profiles, reverse engineering and non-contact scanning. It also provides several reports, including full dimensional inspection, first article inspection, series inspection, analysis and investigation, process capability studies, and statistical process control (SPC).
Additionally, the department offers consulting and training services, including standard and customized GD&T, inspection process optimization, best-practice CMM metrology, CMM programming and operation, and legacy CMM program migration.
