Mitsubishi Electric Automation Hosts Free Workforce Development Event in Houston
The event was offered for free and was especially aimed at teenagers, adults and previously incarcerated persons.

In collaboration with the BenCheri’ Educational Center and Youth Building Success Enhancement, Mitsubishi Electric Automation Inc. recently conducted a training and workforce development program for students in the Acres Homes community of Houston, Texas.
The automation business unit of Mitsubishi Electric specializes in CNCs, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servomotors and industrial robots. As part of the company’s Workforce Development Program, it aims to bring its equipment to elementary schools, high schools, technical colleges and non-profit organizations, helping to build skills in programming, service, maintenance and operations.
The company granted a CNC Specialist Certification to those who successfully completed the program in Houston, which was offered for free. The training program is specifically oriented towards teenagers, adults and previously incarcerated persons who encounter difficulties finding sustainable jobs.
“Workforce development is extremely important to us,” says Derrick Jordan, mechatronics engineering group manager. “The Specialist Certification provides each student with a new set of skills to compete and thrive in the Houston region.”
“Thanks to Mitsubishi Electric for investing in young people and providing highly specialized computer training,” says Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. “By developing new skills, the BenCheri’ students who successfully completed the program will have opportunities to become gainfully employed and provide for themselves and their families.”
