The Integrated Diamond Eductor (IDE) assembly waterjet cutting head is designed with the fewest possible parts. The unit’s body, orifice and mixing chamber are combined into one piece. According to manufacturer KMT Waterjet, this eliminates guesswork on individual piece wear and tear, reduces inventory of multiple parts and simplifies head mounting.
According to the company, the permanently-mounted diamond orifice reduces the chance for misalignment or breakage. The design is based on a “coalescing plenum” for efficient mixing of water and abrasive. This can minimize jet-stream disruption to provide more energy in the waterjet stream, resulting in a stream that can last for more than 500 hours.
