BCI Surface Technologies’ acid cleaning chemistry successfully removes a variety of soils found on metal surfaces prior to applying a conversion or a paint-bonding pretreatment. The soils removed can vary—from laser oxide scale on hot- and cold-rolled steels, to silicone oils and lubricants on aluminum castings, to welding smut and residues. Without causing smut, flash rust or other imperfections, the cleaners leave the rinsed surface ready to accept a metal finishing pretreatment that will provide good paint adhesion and corrosion protection, the company says.
