Femco’s HL-55/2000 CNC lathe is designed for heavy cutting on large workpieces. The solid wraparound boxway construction is designed for precision turning of large workpieces. All mating surfaces are lined with Turcite to provide wear and slip-stick characteristics. The rigid, 45-degree slant-bed construction, combined with precision components, ensures consistent high accuracies and quality finishes, the company says.
The lathe features a two-speed ZF gearbox for maximum metal removal at lower spindle speeds. The main spindle features a standard 15" chuck, and 18" or 21" diameter chucks are available as options. A 35-hp Fanuc motor with a maximum spindle speed of 2,500 rpm powers the spindle. The lathe features a maximum turning diameter of 24.4", and it has an extended turning length of 75.5" for longer workpieces. The extra-wide, 12-station turret employs bi-directional positioning for faster indexing times. The lathe also is equipped with a chip conveyor and a programmable tailstock.
