The MSF series offered by Advanced Machine & Engineering features a reduced width made possible by new design geometry. Because of the reduced thickness, the precision locknut is said to be especially useful for limited-space applications. The geometry for the locking mechanism of the locknut is based on the Spieth diaphragm principle, in which the load and locking parts are constructed from one piece.
Theproducts are produced with common pitches and are available in sizes ranging from M25 to M100. This system uses the complete contact face of the thread for “vise-like” locking, and it doesn’t require additional components such as pins to hold it in place, the company says. Thus, damage to the surrounding machine components is minimized.
During the locking procedure, the thread flanks are loaded in the direction of the load; therefore additional adaptation can occur under working load. According to the company, the connection has high axial rigidity, even under dynamic conditions, as a result.
