Jones and Shipman, a subsidiary of Hardinge, offers its Suprema 1000M cylindrical grinding machine, which features a 160-mm center height with a 100-kg weight capacity. Well-suited for toolroom, batch or high-volume production, the grinder offers a “Tee Bed” design for high geometric accuracy. It is available in 650-, 1,000-, or 1,500-mm grinding lengths.
Larger wheel diameters are said to provide longer wheel life and increase productivity by reducing the number of dresses required during grinding cycles. A swiveling wheelhead features a 400 × 50-mm left-hand external wheel and a 350 × 50-mm right-hand external wheel. Wheelhead power ranging to 5 kW further increases productivity and reduces cycle times, the company says. A re-designed machine guard improves accessibility to enable setting, cleaning and maintaining the machine. A belt-driven internal grinding system accommodates an optional internal spindle. The grinder can be operated with manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic operation modes. It also is equipped with FANUC Power motion with online storage for dressing and grinding programs, USB connectivity, improved reaction times and a color touchscreen.
