The FVM-3016DCL double-column VMC from Chevalier features a table size ranging from 126" × 57" to 165.4" × 57" that can accommodate a load ranging from 14,330 to 17,637 lbs. The X-, Y- and Z-axis travel ranges from 122" × 63" × 30.7" to 161.5" × 63" × 30.7", respectively. The machine offers two spindle speeds: a 6,000-rpm, high/low-gear spindle range is designed for ample power output, and a high-speed range is designed for for fine-cutting results. A one-piece portal frame is mounted on a one-piece, ribbed, cast iron base to minimize vibration. The oversized column and box-type beam construction further increase rigidity.
Also on display is the company's FBL-360 slant-bed lathe, which features a 15" chuck, 4.5" bar capacity, 30.3" maximum swing, 22.4" maximum turning diameter and 80" maximum turning length. It also features a two-speed gearbox and heavy-duty boxways. The lathe's ribbed, Meehanite, cast iron mono-block casting is designed to resist deflection and vibration during heavy machining and ensure stable, end-to-end cutting of long shafts, the company says.
