Kyocera Industrial Ceramics introduces a small, double-sided negative insert tool system for Swiss-type precision machining. The double-sided insert design provides two cutting edges that are said to improve stability.
The company says that the tool鈥檚 sharp cutting edge is the equivalent of a positive insert edge, and its small toolholder design facilitates multiple tool-post locations without subspindle interference.
The inserts are available in two PVD-coated grades, PR1005 and PR1025. According to the company, PR1005 offers excellent wear-resistance for titanium and free-cutting steel, and PR1025 offers fracture toughness for stainless steel and general use.
