Tapmatic says its Synchroflex tap drivers increase tap life, improve thread quality and reduce downtime and tap changes. The device is designed to ensure that users apply only the minimal force needed to start the tap into the hole. Once started, the device is effectively allows the tap to set its own feed rate by ensuring that it is influenced only by spindle rotation as it moves in and out of the hole. According to the company, this can increase tap life by 100 percent or more. The force exerted by the flexure increases proportionally for each 0.01" of deflection.
