Drive Pins For Hard Turning

Leaders-In background

These micro-serrated and hard-coated drive pins are intended to reduce part slippage and scrapped parts, while increasing turning productivity.

Finishing hardened workpieces using face drivers is becoming more commonplace. However, one drawback has been the ability to successfully clamp hardened workpieces, while, at the same time, machining them in a single operation. To ensure adequate workholding, a suitable driving element is needed that can handle high-torque demands. To accomplish this, the drive pins are mounted around the face driver, which is useful in hard turning applications, the company says.

Given the appropriate parameters, the drive pins can achieve circular runouts of less than 0.002 mm in production runs.

They are compatible with the company’s SB/FSB and FFB standard face driv
