The Neidlein FSB 75 face driver from LMC Workholding is used to efficiently cut large-sized workpieces. The face driver is able to make heavy cuts on large barstock and forged workpieces up to 12 ft. long, 28″ in diameter and weighing as much as 13,000 lbs. This face driver has an in feed ranging to 32 mm and a feed rate of approximately 1 mm/rotation. This large face driver can be used in applications such as mining, heavy engineering and the manufacturing of semi-finished parts such as shafts and forged rolls.
The face drivers quickly grip and turn a workpiece from its end, allowing the operator to turn, grind, mill or hard-turn the entire OD of the workpiece in one operation. Mechanical face drivers allow turning applications to have increased flexibility to lower cycle times and allow large, interrupted and heavy cuts. The face drivers offer fast setup, quick change overs, improved part quality, and lower maintenance, the company says.
