The S-XPF thread-forming tap makes threads without creating chips, so it is naturally immune to typical chip problems, the company says. Its lobe design is said to reduce machining torque compared to traditional thread-forming taps. In addition, the tap can be used in difficult applications, such as 40 HRc steel materials and thread-forming large diameters, and it enables high-speed operation using water-soluble coolant.
