The Dormer Pramet shoulder milling range has been expanded with inch cutters, geometries and inserts, among which is the Helical AD for roughing applications. Offering the ability to cut as deep as 3.150", the cutter is especially suitable for use with the company’s ADMX 16 inserts, supporting medium machining of varied engineering materials including cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum alloys and super alloys.
The clearance between the cutting teeth, combined with internal coolant delivery, enables efficient chip evacuation, according to the company. The axial clamping of inserts on the end teeth is said to increase milling stability. This also helps to minimize noise and vibration which in turn reduces tool wear. The surface treatment of the body is nickel-plated for resistance to corrosion and lower abrasion.
