The company’s high precision (HP) head is available for purchase as a replacement part. Until recently, the HP head was only included with the purchase of a new Davenport HP machine. The head is designed to machine the tougher materials and hold the tighter tolerances. The HP head features ABEC 9 angular contact radial bearings, which deliver spindle run-out consistently less than 0.0005". The HP head also provides index repeatability within 0.0006". The addition of the air-lube system extends the life of the spindles, while reducing lubricating oil consumption.
The HP head is designed to increase spindle rigidity, improve part diameter accuracy, improve surface finishes and improve part roundness. It also provides less part taper and deflection, and wear resistant coating reduces galling and increases bore life.
