Handtmann offers two sizes of the HBZ CompactCell, the 300/100 and the 200/100, which are suited for aerospace industry applications. Possible pallet sizes measure 2 × 1, 3 × 1 and 4 × 1 m.
The standard version of the five-axis HMC features a pallet measuring 2 × 1 m and a 75-kW, 20,000-rpm spindle. The 300/100 model is designed to machine aluminum measuring 3 × 1 m. The pallet is automated on rails to ease setup of a second palet while the first workpiece is being machined. This is said to reduce downtime and cost while increasing output. The machine features a 52-kW, 30,000-rpm spindle and axis travel measuring 3,650 × 1,100 × 550 mm.
The palettes are positioned vertically during machining, enabling chips and coolant to drop vertically as well, easing cleaning, saving time, optimizing workpiece quality and extending tool life, the company says.
