Okuma’s MA-12500HW horizontal machining center provides a balance of speed and cutting power for difficult-to-machine materials, cast iron and aluminum alloys. It is well suited for large-part aerospace machining with a maximum tool length of 1,100 mm. The W axis enables a longer tool stroke for machining complex, difficult-to-reach part features.
The machine is equipped with a 50-taper 6,000-rpm, 60/50-hp spindle. It is also available with a 12,000-rpm wide-range spindle or 4,500-rpm heavy-duty spindle. Other features include a 49.21" square pallet; a parallel-type, two-pallet automatic pallet changer; and either an 81-tool matrix automatic toolchanger or an optional 171-tool matrix. The machine supports a maximum load capacity of 11,000 lbs and a maximum part size of 78.72" in diameter and 58.07" high. X, Y and Z axes measure 86.61" × 58.07" × 64.96", with rapid traverse rates of 1,653 ipm.
Built on an integral bed and base, the machine is designed with reinforcing ribs for increased stability and load-carrying capacity. The machine series incorporates Okuma’s Thermo-Friendly Concept to achieve maximum thermal stability and accuracy.
