Sandvik Coromant鈥檚 CoroDrill 880 U-drill features Step Technology that provides cutting-force balance, improving both productivity and hole quality. The drill鈥檚 center insert uses Step Technology to facilitate smooth entrance into the workpiece and balance cutting forces. This enables increases in feed rates, cutting the cost per drilled hole.

The inserts present four cutting edges and wiper geometry, allowing tight tolerances to be held and achieving quality surface finish, the company says. A comprehensive choice of insert geometries and grades give flexibility in optimizing performance across a variety of applications and materials. The drill鈥檚 versatility allows it to excel in an array of applications, including helical interpolation, plunge drilling and boring.
