Indexable Drill Uses Four Insert Sides
Sumitomo鈥檚 WDX indexable drills are designed for large diameter hole drilling. The accurately drill can also perform turning and boring operations, the company says. The drill鈥檚 nickel-plated steel body is said to reduce inventory costs by accepting the same insert geometry for both the outer and inner cutting edges and allowing the use of all four of the insert鈥檚 cutting edges.

Sumitomo鈥檚 WDX indexable drills are designed for large diameter hole drilling. The accurately drill can also perform turning and boring operations, the company says. The drill鈥檚 nickel-plated steel body is said to reduce inventory costs by accepting the same insert geometry for both the outer and inner cutting edges and allowing the use of all four of the insert鈥檚 cutting edges.
The drills feature ZX-coated, carbide insert grades ACP300 and ACK300, and they can be used to machine a variety of steels, stainless steels, cast iron and exotic materials. The drills are available in coolant-through 2脳D, 3脳D and 4脳D body lengths for multiple drilling applications.
