MKS Instruments Inc. Ophir business unit offers the Optimet ConoPoint-10 Smart Sensor, a non-contact laser displacement sensor with built-in profile analysis library for fast, accurate product inspection and 2D profile measurements of complex parts.
The built-in profile analysis library enables the sensor to measure, analyze and evaluate product features and deliver pass/fail results on the production line. Based on MKS’s conoscopic holography technology, the sensor provides wide-angle coverage of up to ±85 degrees for measuring complex geometries, undercuts and steep angles. The laser source and detector are collinear, so narrow bore holes, steep angles and other complex shapes can be measured without triangulating angles.
In conjunction with the built-in profile analysis library, filters are included for smooth point arrays. External triggers and a digital input and output are included, enabling control of the data acquisition process and delivery of go/no-go results. A configurable encoder input and pulse enable the sensor to include position information with every measurement, and the 10-kHz speed provides true data so that each measurement can be used.
The sensor can be added to a production line in just a few hours, the company says, and web-based software is designed to make the set up fast and easy.
