EPi offers Kool-Black, a mid-temperature blackening system designed to produce a durable, smut-free black finish with no boiling caustic fumes. The finish blackens at 220 to 245°F and is said to contribute to a safer work environment as well as energy cost savings. According to the company, the finish meets military specifications MIL-DTS 13924D and AMS 2458H and resists abrasion without chipping, peeling or rubbing off.
