Mastercam 2022 Streamlines the Job Process

Mastercam will display updated machining software at in booth 5249. Mastercam 2022, the company’s latest offering, reportedly includes features and enhancements that will streamline the job process, from setup to completion.
Mastercam 2022 adds the Unified Multiaxis toolpath, 3D High Speed Dynamic OptiRough toolpath and new mesh creation and editing capabilties, including the ability to reconstruct models from scanned data.
The Unified Multiaxis toolpath allows users to select multiple pieces of input geometry to generate the toolpath pattern. Using those geometry choices, the toolpath picks the best algorithm to calculate the path.
Mastercam 2022 also includes the 3D High Speed Dynamic OptiRough toolpath, which is available for all mill and router product levels. This allows users to machine very large cut depths with a bidirectional cutting strategy, reportedly removing the maximum amount of material with the minimum number of stepdowns. Dynamic OptiRough allows users to create a single toolpath to machine a part, instead of creating multiple 2D operations to achieve the same goal. The toolpath is collision aware of the part, and for complex machining, the toolpath can also be aware of the tool holder.
A suite of system-wide enhancements have also been added, which Mastercam claims will help automate tasks and speed the workflow. These include a “smart” approach to auto-select logical chained areas. Holemaking from imported solids is reportedly faster, as Mastercam will now automatically extract appropriate information and pre-populate your programming options. In addition, tool imports have been made more intelligent, as Mastercam will infer more tool properties from an incoming tool CAD model.
Mastercam says that many of the advancements in Mastercam 2022 are informed by feedback from public beta releases, shop visits, customer surveys and consultation with industry partners. According to Mastercam president and CEO Meghan West, “Mastercam is developed by listening to our users and creating solutions for their problems.”
