The DA multi-milling system offers solutions for face milling, corner milling, plunge and pocket milling, chamfering and pre-drilling tasks. The system’s positive geometry helps reduce the risk of vibration because the tools and drive units are only slightly loaded. Diameter-specific inserts with helical reliefs are said to provide optimal contact between the insert and the workpiece. The tools are available in three-, four- and five-flute varieties, making efficient working possible even for low-horsepower machine tools and live tool stations on CNC lathes, the company says.
The holders are available with round shanks or a standard threaded connection for modularity. They have cutting edge diameters of 16, 20, 25 and 32 mm, each using the common design of the company’s triple-edged indexable inserts. Two carbide grades are available: TA45 is suitable for easy-to-machine materials, aluminum and finish machining, and carbide grade SA4B is suitable for difficult-to-machine materials.
Chamfering with the standard triple-edged indexable inserts is made possible by a modified pocket in the milling shank. According to the company, the chamfering cutter bodies increase the versatility of the tooling as these holders can be used for deburring, face milling or pocket milling less than 45 degrees.
