Tornos Technologies’ MultiSwiss 6 × 16 turning center is said to achieve the same production rates as cam-type machines but with quieter operation. The machine features 14 linear axes and seven C axes, and can be equipped with additional Y axis. The seven independent spindles provide angular positioning and optimize speeds in each position. Each spindle has its own Z axis with hydrostatic bearings, enabling good surface finish and extending tool life by as much as 30 to 40 percent, the company says. The machine accommodates workpieces ranging to 16 mm in diameter and 40 mm long.
In addition to the MultiSwiss 6 × 16, Tornos is showcasing the Swiss GT 26 B seven-axis machine, SwissNano Swiss-type lathe, Swiss DT 13 high-performance Swiss-type lathe, EvoDeco 10 Swiss-type lathe, SAS 16.6 multi-spindle machine and Esco NM6 Flexi lathe.
