The six-axis Ganesh Cyclone 78-MYS twin-spindle, single-turret multitasking lathe is designed to get complex work done efficiently in a single operation. The six-axis machine features a full 3" bar capacity and 30-hp beltless Mitsubishi main spindle offering speeds ranging to 4,000 rpm, along with an integral 20-hp, 4,000-rpm Mitsubishi subspindle. The lathe’s 30" turning length provides expanded tool clearance, and chucks as large as 10" in diameter can be mounted on the A2-6 spindles.
The radial mount, high-speed servo turret indexes in 0.2 sec. and features 7.5-hp milling on all 16 tool stations. Both axial and radial tools can be mounted on the main and subspindle from each tool station, enabling a tool count of more than 30 tools. The linear Y axis features 4" of travel and adds to the available tool count by using dual toolholders, the company says. The turret is rated for high-pressure coolant ranging to 1,000 psi. A high-performance, fully synchronized C axis on both spindles with 360,000 radial positions for accurate contouring capability offers a resolution of 0.001 degree.
The multitasking lathe is equipped with a high-performance Mitsubishi M720 CNC optimized for the machine’s rigid structure for more efficient machining, particularly for complex parts made of exotic aerospace alloys, the company says. The 64-bit RISC-CPU runs at 135,000 blocks per minute with a 680-block look-ahead to provide improved shape definition and surface finishes. Ethernet RJ-45, USB, and RS-232 communications interfaces are provided for easier program transfer. The lathe is equipped with a 70-gallon coolant tank providing additional thermal stability for accurate work repeatability. Two coolant pumps are provided, one for the tool turret and another for chip flushing. Cross-roller ways promote rigidity.
