FlexArm will display FlexDrill CNC’s TRD series of VMCs, which feature an open design and a 2-foot-wide bed that ranges from 10 to 80 feet long. Capability to drill, mill, tap and bevel in a single setup makes the line useful for applications involving large or long components, such as keyway cutting in tube or pipe. The machines also feature movable safety light curtains that divide the bed into sections for simultaneous machining and setup of multiple parts.
The machines feature a monoblock welded steel frame and a T-slot machine bed. Spindles with CT or BT 40 tapers are capable of speeds ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 184 ft/lbs. Maximum travel rates are 1,181 ipm along the Z axis, 984 ipm along the Y axis and 165 ipm along the Z axis. Spindle-nose-to-table distance ranges from 8.75" to 24.75".
The machines run on 480 V and include frames with a chip conveyor and a t-slotted table, a flood coolant pump and tank, and an automatic tool calibrator. The 12" color touchscreen is water-resistant and durable. Oversized, double-hung linear guideways contribute to precise movement on all axes. All moving parts are self-lubricating on all axes. A programmable servo motor drives the spindle, while a 10-compartment automatic tool changer provides capacity for many applications.
