Vollmer of America's QXD200 is a programmable, six-axis, CNC machine designed for erosion of polycrystalline diamond (PCD). The machine follows the erosion process with a polished cutting edge. Polishing improves the tools' surface finish to 0.04µ Ra, the company says. New features have also been designed for the erosion of helical drills end mills, radiused milling cutters and high-shear tools. The erosion generator provides quality finishes with processing times as much as 30 percent faster than conventional EDM equipment, the company says.
 

Modular automation enables users to expand the system as demand increases. The six-position electrode and/or grinding wheel changer reduces setup time.
