The company offers the RMS workholding quick-change system for manual- and power-operated clamping devices. According to the company, the system is designed to allow the fast and accurate change from, for example, power chuck to power operated (via drawbar) mandrels to manual chucks or face drivers. The company supplies a short taper mount receiver, which is permanently installed to the machine spindle. The existing drawbar, which actuates and usually screws via a treaded connection to the chuck piston, will be modified and a collet will be added. This collet will automatically connect with the workholding components retention knob on the piston. All workholding devices are changed on a short taper, and no indication or run out adjustment is necessary. The company says the guarantee on the TIR on the component is less than 0.0004". Therefore, jaws don't have to be rebored; mandrels will repeat without any fine adjustment after they are changed on spindles, and the switch from OD clamping work to ID clamping work can be done within seconds. No unscrewing of drawtube or drawbar is needed; there is no damaged connection treat; and no dismantling of chuck or jaws is necessary, according to the company. All components are mounted to the receiver with a quick-acting bayonet screw that takes only ½ turn to release the component from the spindle. The drawtube connection engages and disengages automatically.
