Trumpf says its TruPulse solid-state laser is useful for a variety of applications rangingÌýfrom micro-welding to joining aluminum, stainless, platinum or nitinol. The laser features a burst function that increases the pulse frequency and allows the average power to be briefly exceeded, which is said to reduce the welding cycle. The maximum mean power and the pulse energy, focusability and beam quality can be adjustedÌýaccording toÌýthe requirements of the application area.

At a maximum pulse power as high as 10 kW, the laser’s average power ranges from 20 to 150 W. With a selectable pulse width between 0.2 ms and 50 ms and pulse energies ranging from 0.2 joules to 90 joules, it can be supplied with an air-cooled chiller or water/water heat exchanger. The laser is available with as many as six laser light cables to enable use by several workstations. The company says its power feedback control and power-supply technology provide the laser with pulse stability for precision welding thin foil, fine wire and thin-walled tubing.
