Roughing Face Mills Increase Uptime
Valenite has added the V560 heavy-duty, roughing face mill to its general purpose Penta family of five-sided, face milling cutters. The 0. 400" depth-of-cut capability allows for machining under the tough outer layer of forge or cast workpieces, reducing insert wear compared to smaller inserts, the company says.

Valenite has added the V560 heavy-duty, roughing face mill to its general purpose Penta family of five-sided, face milling cutters. The 0.400" depth-of-cut capability allows for machining under the tough outer layer of forge or cast workpieces, reducing insert wear compared to smaller inserts, the company says. The cutter has a high level of material removal while using less horsepower. It can help increase production capacity, and it uses the full potential of machine tools when performing heavy roughing, particularly with difficult-to-machine forgings and castings. According to the company, the trouble-free, insert-indexing design of the cutter increases machine uptime.Â
