Available from Walter Grinders, Helitronic Tool Studio software is used to design and manufacture cutting tools. With an interactive 3D graphic, the user can add any number of grinding operations per tool, mix and match operations and change any individual feature to create geometries of any complexity, the company says. All programming can be done on an office PC rather than a grinding machine.Ìý

By clicking the 3D graphic, the user can see anything relevant to that part of the tool, including grinding parameters, operations, wheel data, a 2D cross section, a profile view and a complete machine view. From this central screen, the user also can correct errors, measure tools and simulate results. As changes are made, a grinding program is written in the background, allowing the user to send the program directly to a machine when finished.
