Royal Machine has added an 84"-diameter chuck to its line of steel-bodied, manual VTL chucks. The company now manufactures chucks with diameters ranging from 24" to 84", suited for applications in the medical, aerospace and energy technology industries.
The steel chucks are designed to be stronger and more wear resistant than cast iron models. Hardened and precision-ground master jaws and wedge increase wedge-style gripping forces and accuracy. A replaceable pinion gear provides added torque and improved chip protection to reduce contamination and maintenance downtime, the company says.
In addition to manual chucks, the company also offers power-operated, two-, three- and four-jaw configurations as well as a combination two-/three-jaw configuration, with adjustable and non-adjustable master jaw styles. Six- and 12-jaw styles as well as self-contained applications also are available.
Both manual and power chucks feature large, load-bearing surfaces that are designed to reduce wear, increase accuracy and extend service life. Easy-access lubricating fittings in each master jaw and chuck body provide lubrication for all wearing surfaces, and the large-diameter chucks’ basic design maximizes chip and coolant protection.
