NTC America has expanded its lineup of laser processing systems with the development of the TLZ series of CO2 cutting machines. The series features a bridge-type construction and new speed ranges. Responsive control, along with the flexibility of a dual-pallet changer, allows the machine to meet the quality and application challenges associated with large, thick plates or delicate, thin sheet metals, exotic alloys and non-metallic materials and intricate shapes, the company says.

Cutting rates as high as 1,575 ipm (40,000 mm) and rapid traverse speeds of 3,937 ipm (100,000 mm) in the XY axes and 2,362 ipm (60,000 mm) for the Z axis can be achieved. AC servo drive motors regulate high speeds, while ballscrew and linear ball guide mechanisms promote precise, controlled movements. According to the company, the drive devices are isolated to minimize vibrations and maintain sharp and accurate cut edges.

According to the company, laser power options include 2.5-, 3.3-, 4.5- and 6-kW that, coupled with flying optics and options such as a non-contact gap sensor, side gas assist and auto focus, assure cutting integrity.

Two models—the TLZ-408 and TLZ-510—are offered with work envelopes to fit various applications. The TLZ-408 provides a 98" × 49" (2,500 mm × 1,250 mm) cutting stroke, and the TLZ-510 has 122" × 61" (3,100 mm × 1,550 mm) axis movements. Both models feature a 4" (100 mm) vertical stroke of the head and tight tolerances, with positioning accuracy of ± 0.05 mm over 500 mm of travel (0.002"/20" of movement).
