Rimeco Products’ ParaKeep—short for Parallel Keeper—is designed to be used with any standard set of parallels on any machine vise. It holds workholding parallels in place while the vise is opened and closed during normal use. According to the company, the system helps avoid messy solutions that require constant upkeep and chip removal to prevent misalignment.
The ParaKeep is a spring-loaded, phosphate-coated steel housing with an adjustable screw that allows users to quickly adjust the parallel stabilizing mechanism with each new job. It is used with standard flathead screws and can be purchased individually or as a full set. The individual unit comes with a 1" screw and has a work envelope ranging from 1.00" to 2.25"; the 5S Kit covers 0.250" to 4.25". According to the company, the kit fits on any machinist’s table or tool box and enables the machinist to set up a vise without having to leave his or her work area.
