American National Carbide offers a new turning grade insert suitable for high speed machining of stainless steel and many steels in roughing to semi-finishing applications. The AN2025 grade features a cobalt-enriched substrate and a multi-layered ceramic CVD coating to enhance edge strength.

Other possible benefits include resistance to flank wear and plastic deformation, low fracture toughness with medium abrasion resistance. In addition, the multi-layered coating provides strength and lubricity. The product is available in a variety of chip-control geometries—HF positive rake grade for high speed finishing, and PGR-style for fine finishing.
