Updated Waterjet Series Improves Cutting Speeds

Omax has updated its Maxiem series of JetMachining Centers with five next-generation models for high-performance abrasive waterjet cutting. The machines feature enhanced cutting speeds, abrasive hopper designs and self-leveling baselines, as well as updated linear drive systems. A Z-axis core enables the use of optional multi-axis cutting heads. According to Omax, the series is suitable for fabrication and job shops, OEMs, metal service centers, and trade schools, among others.
The Maxiem series machines are equipped with the company's Intelli-Trax linear drive system, which uses brushless servomotors, integrated servodrives and high-precision linear encoders to provide constant and continuous feedback on the actual cutting head position. In addition to increased cutting accuracy, the drive system is said to provide faster, smoother motion. The universal Z-axis core uses the company’s Maxjet 5 nozzle in combination with an updated modular head interface offering 12" of controlled height travel. The direct-drive 50,000-psi pump includes a variable frequency drive for precise cutting pressure control, available in 20-, 30- and 40-hp options.
The Windows 8-based controller comes preloaded with Omax's Intelli-Max software suite, including the Intelli-Visor system monitor for predictable machine maintenance. Available accessories include a rapid water level control, the A-Jet five-axis cutting head with smart taper control, a variable-speed solids removal system, and a bulk abrasive delivery system.
