Verisurf Software’s latest release, Verisurf 2017, will be integrated to support and drive the Fowler zCAT portable, programmable coordinate measurement machine (CMM). The accuracy, portability and repeatability of the zCAT CMM coupled with Verisurf dimensional metrology software is said to deliver a robust and fully programmable, portable inspection solution.
Verisurf 2017 offers users a rich 3D environment including an object-oriented operations manager, CAD feature extraction and solid model associativity. Ease of use and user productivity in this version are enhanced with file recognition, logical right-click options, customizable user configurations, and drag-and-drop operations reordering. Attention to the intuitive 3D experience helps users learn quicker, program the zCAT faster and automate CMM operation, the company says.
The integration, the company says, demonstrates the company’s commitment to open standards and interoperability to promote more seamless workflows and to maintain a continuity between design, manufacturing and quality inspection.
The zCAT is a direct computer control (DCC) CMM. Weighing only 30 lbs, the CMM can take automated, repeatable measurements while remaining portable. This combination of features makes the zCAT suitable for deployment directly in the manufacturing process, so that the same person making the part can now measure the part, the company says. The DCC technology enables operators to teach the machine what they want to measure and then let the device to take over while maintaining high accuracy.
