The Skinny-Vise inspection system from Phillips Precision Inc. is said to improve visibility and repeatability for CMM and vision systems. By twisting the thumbscrew, inspectors hold parts with a small clamping area, enabling access to most of the surface of a part, according to the company.
The static jaw is adjustable by as much as 1.25", while the locking jaw is engaged with a quick twist. This is said to enable faster part swaps and repeat inspection of parts. Soft aluminum jaws can be customized to hold parts of many shapes, including pins and spheres, and the vise base can be mounted in any direction desired, opening up more options to hold parts.
