VMC Incorporates DCG Technology To Produce Larger Parts

Developed by Mori Seiki U.S.A., Inc. to address the needs of the LCD and automotive segments of the mold and die industry, the NV6000 DCG is a mid-sized vertical machining center that can accomplish high speed machining with virtually no tool tip vibration. Through the integration of the driven at the center of gravity (DCG) technology, the machine is also capable of improving surface finish, contouring accuracy and tooling life, the company says.

With the DCG technology, the net driving force acts through the center of the axis. The machine contains five ballscrews—two on the Y axis, two on the Z axis and one on the X axis—that promote reduced vibration. In addition, the technology allows the machine to achieve a roundness of 1.6 microns in contouring.

A toolchanger that accommodates as many as 20 tools and a 40 taper spindle capable of 20,000 rpm are other standard features. Optional 40- and 60-tool capacities are available as well. Tool-to-tool change time is 1.2 seconds.
