Kitamura Machinery’s high-capacity Mycenter-3XD vertical machining center is designed to save space while offering a larger work envelope. The VMC’s 500 × 800-mm (19.7" × 33.9") worktable and X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 760 × 510 × 510-mm (30" × 20.1" × 20.1") make it suitable for machining small- to medium-sized workpieces.
The VMC features a dual-contact 30-hp AC spindle system offering 12,000 rpm and an automatic toolchanger that accommodates 24 tools. A 15,000-rpm spindle and 30-tool ATC are available as options. The high-performance NRG belt drive enables torque and power transmission from the motor to the spindle with less vibration and noise, for smoother operation and improved reliability and stiffness.
Heavy-duty cross-roller linear guideways and stiff construction enable rapid feed rates of 48 m/min. (1,889 ipm) in the X and Y axes, and 42 m/min. (1,654 ipm) in the Z axis. The VMC’s cast Meehanite C-frame construction promotes rigidity, durability and stability. Contact surfaces are hand-scraped for improved alignment, fit and performance. A base wash system, internal chip augers and a scraper-type chip conveyor help keep the workspace free of chips and contaminates. The chip conveyor can be installed on the right- or left-hand side of the machine, depending on space requirements. The VMC is controlled with Kitamura’s Arumatic-Jr. CNC featuring 675 block look-ahead, 1,280-m memory, USB memory interface, and Ethernet I/F for faster and smoother program transfer.
