The QP line of VMCs from Chevalier Machinery, Inc., is equipped with all the wiring, hoses and fittings required to allow future upgrades such as 4-axis machining, spindle oil cooler and through-spindle coolant. Standard features include a Fanuc OiM conversational control, 24-tool ATC, 10,000-rpm/20-hp spindle, high-speed rigid tapping and pull-out chip drawers. A 12,000-rpm direct-coupled spindle and 32-tool ATC are also available.
The QP series has a 48" x 20" table size, XYZ travels of 40" x 20.5" x 20" and workpiece capacity of 1,100 lbs. Machine footprint measures 112" x 81" x 101". Its Meehanite cast iron construction features a ribbed frame and wide stance to help increase rigidity and dampen vibration. Slanted inside front walls, sloping way covers and a standard chip flushing system help wash chips into the chip drawers. Dual chip augers and a chip conveyor are available.
