Gleason Corp. (Rochester, New York) announced a new name and operating structure for Distech Systems. The automation business will be named Gleason Automation Systems and will operate as a division of The Gleason Works.
Acquired in May 2014, the renamed Gleason Automation Systems designs and manufactures factory automation systems, including automated tray stacking systems that integrate secondary operations such as washing, inspection, gaging, marking, visioning and part tracking. The business serves the automotive, machine tool, pharmaceutical and medical industries.
John J. Perrotti, president and CEO of Gleason, says “As we have integrated Distech into our operations along with our increased focus on providing machine systems solutions, it made sense to change the name.” He adds, “We see many opportunities to build on the current capabilities and provide customers both inside and outside of Gleason’s traditional markets with new solutions to improve quality and productivity.”
Gleason Automation Systems will continue to operate with its current staff at its manufacturing facility in Gleason’s facility in Rochester.
