The entry-level Nakamura-Tome TW-8 multitasking turn-mill center from Methods Machine Tools is said to reduce cycle times. An opposed, two-spindle, two-turret construction allows the centers to perform like two single spindle machines within a compact footprint, the company says.
The system features a Fanuc 31iA control that offers standard conversational programming. Configurations include a four-axis platform and an optional six-axis MM package that facilitates simple, cross-drilled holes and milling operations on the C axis.
Two 12-station turrets are standard. The system features a maximum turning diameter of 7.5″ (190 mm) and a turning length of 4.5″ (115 mm). Bar capacity on the left and right spindle is 1.340″ (34 mm). Slide travel on the X axis is 6″ (155 mm) and 7″ (180 mm) on the Z axis.
The system is 90.5″ × 63″ × 63″ (2300 mm × 1600 mm × 1600 mm).
