Makino's full line of wire EDM, sinker EDM and EDM hole-drilling machines are now equipped with the company's s suite of Hyper Technologies, previously introduced for U-series wire EDMs, Hyper Technologies includes HyperCut Technology and the Hyper-i control system.
HyperCut Technology is designed to reduce cycle times in EDM processes while lowering wire consumption and electrode requirements. This technology cuts as much as 33 percent faster while using less wire, the company says. This reduces the total number of machining passes and maintains part straightness and accuracy. It also achieves surface finish quality of 16 microinches Ra with three-pass machining (one rough, two skim cuts) using brass wire, the company says.
The unified Hyper-i control system is said to improve the interface between operator and machine by providing the same streamlined operation to both wire EDMs and sinker EDMs.
